IMU’s Academic Council (AC) was set up as a consultative body for our Medical and Dental programmes.

ABOUT US

Much of the success of the academic and administrative quality of the IMU’s Medical and Dental programmes, can be traced to the expert guidance and mentorship of the Academic Council (AC).

The Academic Council (AC) makes consultative recommendations on

Admission requirements, curriculum, assessment, and faculty appointments and development. It also determines the method of transfer of students to partner schools. Their meetings are held annually.

During these meetings,

All areas are reviewed and breakout sessions are held to deliberate the future direction of the Medical and Dental programmes, taking into consideration the latest trends in the world of Healthcare.

The council is made up of representatives from our Partner Medical and Dental Schools (PMS and PDS) as well as members of the IMU’s Senate.

The Remit of The
Academic Council is

Advice & make recommendations pertaining to
  • the admissions process
  • undergraduate medical & dental curriculum & its delivery
  • methods of assessment, faculty appointments & development
  • issues related to research & postgraduate training

To monitor and evaluate the implementation of IMU’s medical and dental curriculum, especially over its first 5 semesters.

To monitor the method and process of transfer of students to the respective PMS, PDS or IMU Clinical Campus for Phase 2 of their training.

To monitor and provide regular feedback on student performance and progress in whichever location they have transferred their credits to.
