Healthcare Practitioners Learn About Mysteries and Idiosyncrasies of Personality at IMU’s ICL Workshop

08 Dec 2020

Human interaction at work plays an important role in creating a harmonious and positive relationship among peers. Managing people can be quite challenging especially when handling the different types of personalities and characters. In the supervisory role, understanding the personality traits of subordinates will help managers focus on building rapport and carry out tasks effectively. This is the focus of the workshop ‘People Management in Healthcare’ and as the title indicates, it is mainly geared for healthcare practitioners such as medical doctors and researchers. This workshop received warm responses from IMU academicians and staff, including external participants from National Institute of Health (NIH), local clinic, dental academy and industry. 19-20 November 2020 – IMU Centre for Lifelong Learning (ICL) in collaboration with Relationship Studio conducted this workshop to introduce on how Enneagram can be used as a tool to help oneself identify his or her own personality traits and weaknesses. This workshop was delivered by Cindy Leong, who is a certified Enneagram trainer, and the founder of Relationship Studio Pte. Ltd. Throughout the two days session, the learning delivery was interactive and fun with role playing, sharing of opinions and getting to know about all types of Enneagram personalities in the breakout sessions. There were nine dominant types of personalities and to Cindy’s surprise, this group had all nine types, such as The Helper, The Achiever, The Individualist, The Challenger and The Peacemaker, to name a few. There were many positive feedbacks as most of the participants were intrigued about the type of character and behaviour they possessed. At the end of the session, this workshop has helped them to gain a better understanding in terms of communication and interaction with peers and supervisors in the workplace. ICL looks forward to organise similar workshops with Relationship Studio and will keep everybody posted!

Some of the feedback from participants
I learned a lot in this 2-day session. I realized that emotionally/behaviour wise everyone is different. Since I need to deal with a lot of people with different levels of emotion/behaviour, I will now be more positive towards them and deal differently with different types of traits.
Good
The course is conducted in an interesting way and was able to attract the audiences’ attention, with all of us staying until the end of the whole workshop.
Great
Good webinar. Everyone should join and find out/understand more about themselves and people around us.
