Perhentian Village Community Cares

Overview

The Perhentian village is located off the coast of the Terengganu state. This project is a collaboration with two other social enterprises, namely the Junior Nutri Chef and Fuze Ecoteer. A recent health screening of 161 children at the village by Junior Nutri Chef has shown that the younger children have very unhealthy eating habits and poor oral health. In addition, the adults in the families have a number of health concerns. Together with these social enterprises, IMU Cares will carry out this first healthcare project in the village with a view to improve the health status of the village community.

This project is currently under planning and no activities have been conducted yet.

Objectives

  • To improve the health status of the village community
  • To educate the village community, particularly the children, on managing preventable diseases
  • To facilitate the combination of experiential and interprofessional learning among IMU staff and students

Target Audience

  • Underprivileged families in the village community of Perhentian
