Tree Planting at FRIM


FRIM is one of the leading institutions in tropical forestry research in the world. Founded in 1929, the former Forest Research Institute became a full-fledged statutory body, governed by the Malaysian Forestry Research and Development Board (MFRDB) under the Ministry of Primary Industries (1985).

The institute sits adjacent to the Bukit Lagong Forest Reserve in the Kepong municipality. Its main functions are:

The target to achieve is planting 30 trees twice a year. Through this, the participants will learn more about the importance of trees towards our environment and share the knowledge to the public.



  • To raise awareness regarding the importance of the environment and the conservation of forest biodiversity
  • To offset carbon emissions by 40 percent by the year 2020
  • To reduce greenhouse gasses and fight climate change
  • To improve the quality of the natural environment
