SK Brickfields 1


SK Brickfields 1 is a government primary school located at Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur. There are 481 students and 32 of these children have special needs. From our preliminary assessment and the feedback from the school staff, some students lack knowledge and skills in practising proper personal hygiene. From observation, some of the students were also noted to appear stunted and underweight.

This project will initially consist of needs assessment, including nutritional and health assessment undertaken by associate lecturers and students from the department of Nutrition & Dietetics. Target groups for the first few visits will be year 1 and 2 (135 pupils). Follow-up appropriate health and nutritional interventions will be conducted, involving the parents and the teachers as well.

  • To promote positive health attitudes among the school children, parents and teachers
  • To prevent occurrence of diseases among the children
  • To develop a healthy school environment
