SK Methodist PJ


SK Methodist PJ is located at Jalan 5/37, Petaling Jaya. It is a government-supported national school providing quality primary education for children aged 7 to 12 years. Facilities available in the school include a well-equipped library with internet access, a hall for school assembly and indoor games, a clean canteen providing affordable food and a court for recreational activities. The school administration have always welcomed IMU students and staff to carry out various activities, particularly English workshops.

English workshop
The objectives of this workshop are to

  1. develop confidence of SK Methodist pupils in using the English Language with focus on speaking, listening, writing and reading skills
  2. provide opportunities for SK Methodist pupils to use the English Language in an everyday setting
  3. promote teamwork among SK Methodist pupils
  4. follow-up on selected pupils for remedial activities

The objective of the follow-up remedial activities is to provide an opportunity for participants of the workshop, especially low-performing pupils, to work closely with IMU student coaches to build confidence in using the English Language in a short skit and interactive tutoring sessions.

At the end of the workshop, the pupils of SK Methodist should be able to

  1. form complete sentences in English by themselves
  2. communicate with confidence in English with their peers

Green and sustainable environment
The objectives of the greening the environment activities are to

  1. educate SK Methodist PJ pupils on the importance of taking care of the environment and show them the fun ways to do so
  2. promote teamwork among SK Methodist PJ pupils
  3. Activities done so far:

    1. create hand-crafted models out of recyclable materials
    2. assemble self-watering pots using recyclable materials
    3. design posters on ways to take care of the environment

      IMU Cares Integration with MPU (U4) Module

      Many student groups have been conducting community service projects at existing IMU Cares Community Partners as part of their MPU (U4) project. Find below the list of activities that students can undertake as part of their MPU (U4) project. Each student group may select one of the following:

      1. English workshop
        The pupils in SK Methodist PJ still need more time and exposure to improve familiarity with and ease of using the English language. IMU students will act as mentors in engaging these pupils in various interactive activities to improve the overall English language skills, i.e. reading, writing, speaking and listening. The progress of the pupils will be monitored using various assessment tools, for example quizzes, short test, presentation, etc. This should be a short to long-term effort.
      2. Awareness on the importance of clean and green environment
        IMU students can plan campaigns to stress the importance of preserving and conserving the environment.
