IMU’s Chiropractic Programme Fully Accredited by CCEA

16 October – Graduates from the IMU chiropractic degree, which is accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCEA), would be eligible to practise in Australia and other countries (provided they meet certain local requirements ie English language proficiency, examinations on local legal issues, visa and work permits, etc). Such an accreditation  is the basic standard used by licensing bodies around the world in judging the competency graduates and their eligibility to practice chiropractic. The 4-year Bachelor of Science (Hons) Chiropractic programme at IMU has been awarded full accreditation by the Council on Chiropractic Education, Australasia (CCEA) for a period of 3 + 1 years. This is the longest period awarded for first time accreditations by CCEA. The Council on Chiropractic Education, Australasia (CCEA) is an independent and nationally recognised body responsible for ensuring competency and high education standards in chiropractic for the Australian community. Commenting on this latest development, Prof Peter Diakow, Head of Division of Chiropractic said, “It is with pride that I announce the accreditation of the chiropractic programme by CCEA. This accreditation is a testament to the high teaching standards, the professional commitment of our faculty and the excellent support of the International Medical University as a whole. The accreditation process was rigorous and very thorough.” IMU welcomed its first cohort of chiropractic students in 22 February 2010. It is the first and only complete Chiropractic educational programme in Malaysia as well as in all of Southeast Asia. For this programme, students have the option to study the 4-year Chiropractic programme in IMU or study part of their programme in IMU and then transfer to one of the Partner Universities in Australia or the UK.
