5 June 2015 – The International Medical University (IMU) School of Pharmacy organised a farewell lunch, known as “Dean’s Lunch” for its last cohort of Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) students. These students are from the last MPharm cohort, MPQ1/14, who were in Semester 4 at the time of writing. This twinning programme which has been offered in collaboration with University of Strathclyde (UoS) since 1996, will no longer be offered in IMU due to the limited number of preregistration places for Pharmacists in the UK. The last cohort of students in the 2+2 option would transfer to the UoS in September 2015, followed by students of the 2.5+1 option students in June 2016. 
For this lunch, all students of the last cohort and lecturers were invited. Dr Dinesh Kumar Chellappan, the Programme Coordinator of MPharm welcomed all guests to the gathering. Dean of Pharmacy, Prof Yeoh Peng Nam then delivered the farewell speech to the students. This was followed by student representatives of the class Kan Hong Yik (Dexter) and Loh Jo-Nyee delivering the spirit-of-the-class speech and a photo session. 
At the farewell lunch, students and staff networked and interacted with many personal photographs taken. An atmosphere of nostalgia enveloped the entire place. There were smiles, laughter and emotions vividly expressed everywhere with waves of happiness and joyful tears. It was also a moment to show that IMU understood, appreciated and loved her wonderful students. The gratitude in the eyes of the students was obvious for every person present to see. IMU had indeed created a lasting impression in the hearts of the students and it is hoped that as they progress in their career, these students would often reflect and cherish their alma mater and come back as alumni. 
This twinning programme with the University of Strathclyde was the first Pharmacy course offered at the IMU in 1996 (first called BSc (Hons) Pharmacy then changed to MPharm in 1998). The programme had two options: a 2+2 option and a 2.5 + 1 option, where students joining the IMU would spend either 2 or 2.5 years at the IMU and the remaining 1 or 2 year(s) in the UK at the University of Strathclyde campus. The 2+2 option gave the students a chance to work in the UK after the completion of their studies.
