19 June 2015 – The Chinese Medicine programme offered by the International Medical University (IMU) received full accreditation from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). This MQA full accreditation is perpetual and the date of its commencement starts from 19 June 2014. The IMU Chinese Medicine Programme, which was launched in 2011, trains students to systematically study the foundation theory of Chinese medicine, its applied clinical subjects and all the four classic Chinese medical literature. On top of that, students also study western medicine. All of our students are clinically trained to look at human body as a whole and to prescribe treatment based on the unique Chinese medicine syndrome differentiation. Clinical efficacy is achieved while excellent Chinese medical professionals are also nurtured. For this programme, clinical attachments are conducted in year 4, where they will first start observing clinical Chinese Medicine Practitioners (CMP) and then progress to hands on practice under supervision of experienced CMP. With these attachments and a solid foundation in the basic medical sciences, students will be better prepared for patient care and become competent CMP in modern healthcare facilities.
