National Pharmacy Examination Success

8 Aug 2017

The School of Pharmacy recorded the highest passing rate of all universities whose pharmacy students took the national Qualifying Examination for Registration as a Practicing Pharmacist in June 2017. 116 IMU Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) students passed this examination. On 1 August these students received their Certificates from the Dean of School, A/Prof Mohd. Zulkefeli.

The Qualifying Examination, held three times a year by the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia, is an assessment of candidates’ knowledge and ability to apply Malaysia laws regulating the sale and supply of medicinal products from pharmacies. As this knowledge is important for safe pharmacy practise, passing the Qualifying Examination is a prerequisite for pharmacy graduates who wish to register as pharmacists with the Pharmacy Board.

The school consistently supports its students in their preparation for all examinations, including this one.  This commitment to quality education enabled the school to achieve full 5-year re-accreditation of its BPharm programme, awarded by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency in January 2016. A revised, improved BPharm curriculum will be rolled out for the next intake of students into the BPharm programme, in August and September 2017.

“This achievement results from the quality of the curriculum designed for the Bachelor of Pharmacy programme and the teaching and learning strategies implemented by our academic staff. Most importantly, our programme is aimed at producing work-ready graduates” said the Dean.

Hi, my name is Hui Min Tan. I enrolled in the twinning programme of Bachelor of Pharmacy provided by IMU. I intend to get my registration done in Malaysia. Therefore, I have registered pharmacy qualifications exam which would be held in July. I am writing to inquire whether the university has resources or archives of past years’ exam questions for the pharmacy qualifications exam.

Thank you.
