Hands-on experience of preparing a short research proposal of which they presented at the end of the course |
The six students were all medical professionals currently pursuing their master’s studies. This was their first experience coming to Malaysia. They opted to attend this short course in IMU as they have received positive feedback from their seniors in the previous batches. The students remarked that they had benefited tremendously from this short course which will prepare them for their future professional development. They highlighted that the lectures provided new and extremely useful information especially with regards to research management, how to write a good proposal, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Institutional Research Board (IRB), scientific writing, and how to critically review a paper. Being their first experience of stepping foot in Malaysia, they were fascinated with the local climate, foods, and cultures particularly the people’s politeness, kindness, helpfulness, and friendliness. Hence, the students easily adapted to the local cultures here in Malaysia. Besides, they also took the opportunities to go sightseeing in the Klang Valley by visiting some of the places like Petaling Street, Twin Tower, Shah Alam i-City, and Mid Valley.
