The Family Medicine Department, IMU School of Medicine organised the 2nd IMU Mock Examination for the Conjoint MAFP/FRACGP, a one-day workshop on Saturday, 17 July 2021. As had been in previous years, it was a very much sought-after Continuing Medical Education (CME) and was once again one of IMU’s most successful educational events. This was the 14th consecutive year IMU had successfully supported the Academy of Family Physicians of Malaysia in hosting this event with the objective of raising the standards of general practice in Malaysia.
The workshop, which covered areas of clinical importance in general practice, was designed and officially offered as the Mock Exam for postgraduate trainees of the Academy of Family Physicians of Malaysia in preparation for their Conjoint MAFP/FRACGP Examination. This was the first time that this workshop was held as a Remote Clinical Examination (RCE) in keeping with the new examination format of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners to assess clinical competencies in the new norm.
The workshop was also opened to all other interested general practitioners and medical students to gain an exemplary educational experience. It attracted a total of 107 participants from both the Ministry of Health and private practice. Although it was the first time that the event was held in the new RCE format, the team of experienced facilitators took the event to even greater heights. With the extremely positive feedback that was obtained from the participants, the department is inspired to now look at even more innovative ways in the delivery of this CME in the near future.
