15th IMU Family Medicine Clinical Skills Course: An Interactive and Informative Workshop

04 Aug 2022

The Family Medicine Department, IMU School of Medicine organised the 15th IMU Family Medicine Clinical Skills Course, a one-day event on Saturday, 4 June 2022. As had been in previous years, it was a very much sought-after CME and was once again one of IMU’s most successful educational events. This was the 15th consecutive year IMU had successfully supported the Academy of Family Physicians of Malaysia in hosting this event with the objective of raising standards of general practice in Malaysia.

The workshop, which covered areas of clinical importance in general practice, was designed and officially offered as the Mock Exam for postgraduate trainees of the Academy of Family Physicians of Malaysia in preparation for their Conjoint MAFP/FRACGP Examination. This event was held as a Remote Clinical Examination (RCE) in keeping with the new examination format of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners to assess clinical competencies in the new norm.

The event was also opened to all other interested general practitioners and medical students to gain an exemplary educational experience. It attracted a total of 145 participants from both the Ministry of Health and private practice. With the extremely positive feedback that was obtained from the participants, the department is inspired to now look at even more innovative ways in the delivery of CMEs in the near future.
