In this era of a pandemic, vaccination has become one of the hottest topics in society.
On 8 January 2022, a group of students from IMU School of Pharmacy held an activity in introducing the concept of vaccines to teenagers in the Rumah Titian Kaseh (RTK) – Mix Home under the supervision of Dr Hazwanie. It is a mixed welfare home that provides stays for orphans, single mothers, the disabled and the elderly. The project was aimed to expose the concept of vaccines and emphasize the fundamentals of receiving vaccinations to teenagers.
Due to the pandemic of COVID-19, the activity was conducted virtually on the Zoom platform. Three educational videos about vaccines were prepared and explained during the session. The addition of proper illustrations and Malay subtitles were utilised to help the teenagers in understanding the videos.
Besides this, a short and simple quiz session was prepared after each video for interaction and to check their understanding. The activity ended with a group photo session followed by a session with the teenagers who showed their excitement via hand fingerstyle in appreciation of the students’ effort in preparing the activity.
