18 and 19 October 2022 – IMU’s School of Pharmacy lecturer, A/Prof ChM Dr Lee Choy Sin and her research team (Amala Muniandy, Lim Wen Huei and Prof Mallikarjuna Rao Pichika) won First Prize for Poster Presentation at the 15th Oils and Fats International Congress, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The winning poster with the title “Hyperbranched poly(glycerol esteramide) as solubility and dissolution enhancer for lovastatin” presented part of an industry collaborative with the Malaysia Palm Oil Board (MPOB).
Receiving First Prize from Academician Tan Sri Emeritus Prof Datuk Dr Augustine S H Ong, President, Malaysian Oil Scientists’ and Technologists’ Association (MOSTA)
About the Winning Project
The hyperbranched poly(glycerol esteramide) is a novel synthetic biodegradable polymer produced by the research team using glycerol and fatty acids derived from palm oil. The biodegradable polymer with hyperbranching properties exhibited superior solubility and dissolution enhancement effects for a poorly water-soluble model drug.
About the Research Team
A/Prof Dr ChM Lee Choy Sin and her research team is an active research group working on the synthesis of use-inspired macromolecules for developing polymeric systems which are environmentally friendly and biodegradable targeted for pharmaceutical, medical, and biomedical applications.
About 15th Oils and Fats International Congress
