The World Smart Medication Day 2024, spearheaded by the Clinical and Translational Division of International Union of Basic & Clinical Pharmacology (IUPHAR), served as a platform to explore the critical importance of considering drug evaluation at the extremes of ages and to facilitate knowledge exchange among participants.
The programme highlights the significance of evaluating drugs for paediatric and geriatric populations, emphasizing the need for tailored approaches to ensure safe and effective medication use across different age groups.
Central to the event was the Poster Competition, challenging participants to demonstrate not only their creativity but also their deep understanding of drug evaluation for extreme age populations. With only two winners selected from a pool of talented participants worldwide, the competition was an intense battleground of intellect and innovation.
Among the participants in this competition was Lee Min Ci, an IMU University student who rose to the challenge with enthusiasm and determination. When she emerged as one of the winners of the poster competition, it was a moment of pride for her and IMU University, showcasing her talent and expertise in her journey as a medical student. She represented IMU University with distinction, sharing insights and experiences.
What Min Ci Says About This Win?
When the news came that I was one of the winners of the poster competition, I was overwhelmed with joy and a sense of accomplishment. To have my work recognized on an international stage was a dream come true. The invitation to participate in an oral presentation of my poster at the World Smart Medication Day was both an honour and a daunting prospect.
As the event drew closer, I found myself balancing the demands of preparing for the oral presentation with the responsibilities of my MBBS programme at IMU University. Despite the academic workload, with determination and invaluable support from my colleagues and family, I navigated through the obstacles. The event served as a reminder for myself of the importance of embracing new opportunities and pushing boundaries, even in the face of adversity. Sharing my insights with an international audience was an incredible opportunity, one that I will always cherish.
Winning the competition was more than just a personal achievement and triumph. It was a validation of my dedication and perseverance to my studies.
As I reflect on this experience, I am grateful for the support and encouragement that propelled me forward. In the future, I am inspired to continue exploring new avenues of research and learning, knowing that every challenge is an opportunity for growth.
