Communication with Health Degree

The Bachelor of Communication with Health (Honours) programme at IMU aims to provide you with expertise in theories, strategies, principles, and practical, tailored for delivering and promoting health information and messages through communication and digital media. Through theory and practical applications, learn how to communicate strategically and effectively to diverse audiences, applying nuances of healthcare communication, and mastering the intricacies of promoting health initiatives. This interdisciplinary programme will equip you for dynamic roles at the hub of communication and health. Setting this programme apart is its team of experts in media, communication, and health sciences. Above all, it is tailored for students from both science and non-science backgrounds, empowering any student witha passion for communication and health.

50% GLOBAL LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP


Students enrolling in the Communication with Health programme at IMU for the 2025 intakes are eligible for the Global Leadership Scholarship, which offers a 50% reduction in tuition fees. The scholarship amount will be evenly deducted starting from Semester 2. Scholarships are granted at the discretion of the University, and its decisions are final.

# The industrial placement is structured across two semesters (Semester 6 and Short Semester 3). The credit hours are divided based on the weeks students undergo the placement.

  • Foundation in Science qualifications from other higher education institutions will be considered on a case by case basis for admission into the local IMU programmes.
  • Students with IMU Foundation in Science can apply into IMU programmes and programmes with selected credit transfer options, upon meeting the entry requirement eligibility. ** (Please refer to IMU Foundation in Science brochure for more details)
For admissions into the IMU Foundation in Science programme, students will need:
  • Pass SPM / O-Levels with minimum 5 credits in Mathematics, 2 Science subjects and 2 other subjects. Note: Specific SPM / O-Levels requirements may be needed for admissions into IMU programmes.

  • Application fee is payable upon submission of application.
  • Registration fee and refundable caution deposit is payable upon acceptance of the offer letter issued by the IMU Admissions Office.
  • As stipulated by Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education, international students are required to pay Student Visa Application fee of RM3,000 AND personal bond (depending on nationality) upon registration.
  • International students will also be required to pay Student Visa Renewal fee every year.
  • Student must adhere to the Policy on Payment of Fees
  • All students are required to pay Student Association Fees of RM40 per semester which will be subject to annual increase.
  • All fees are subject to currency exchanges rates and exclusive of levy and bridging fees (if any).
  • Application fee and registration fee are non refundable.
  • All students who are applying for the National Higher Education Fund (NHEF) loans are required to pay their semester fees in FULL by the due date stated in the invoice.

How will I be assessed?

A variety of assessment methods are employed in a curriculum to assess the learning outcomes. Some of the assessments to assess students’ learning performance include written essays, reports, case study analyses, class tests, projects, presentations, practical reports, logbooks, portfolios, and end-of-semester examinations.

Is there any industrial placement?

This programme offers a 24-week industrial placement opportunity, facilitated by the University, within communication-related industries, particularly in healthcare. Leveraging the University’s strong connections and collaborative relationships with the healthcare sector, students gain valuable practical experience.

What is the medium of instruction?

The medium of instruction is English. Students who come from a system of education in which the medium of instruction is not English are strongly recommended to improve their proficiency in English by making their own arrangements to attend additional English Language classes before entering the IMU.

Who will award the degree?

The Bachelor of Communication with Health (Hons) is awarded by IMU. Those who transfer to the partner university will be awarded with a degree from the partner university.
