The Foundation in Arts is the preferred foundation for entry into any of IMU University’s local degree programmes. This dynamic 1-year programme, conducted over 3 semesters, offers two intakes: April and September.
At IMU, Foundation in Arts students will have countless opportunities to engage with staff and peers across various programmes, diving deep into the arts and humanities. This rich experience helps students discover their ideal degree and career paths. The Foundation in Arts boasts a comprehensive curriculum, featuring subjects like business, communication, and the arts, taught by expert faculty dedicated to your success. With well-equipped facilities and resources, our innovative learning environment enhances every aspect of your education. As a pathway to success, this programme is your gateway to undergraduate degrees at IMU, including Psychology, Digital Health, and Business Administration with Healthcare Management.
Another unique feature of the IMU Foundation in Arts is its seamless integration with the Foundation in Science (FIS). Students from both programmes share modules like English for Academic Purposes, Computing Studies, and Cross-Boundary Studies, sparking collaboration on assignments and presentations. This multidisciplinary interaction cultivates mutual understanding and respect, breaking down stigmas and proving that every field holds equal value.
In the Cross Boundary Studies module, students are given a task to design a practical community project. When designing the project, students will utilise communication skills and knowledge of psychology to engage with the communities on the ground and identify the beneficiaries’ needs. Then, when the project is implemented, students have to practise their fundraising and logistics skills from their management and finance modules. This is how the project brings together a range of skills across the boundaries of different subjects.
When students join IMU University, they bring diverse expectations and secondary school experiences. There are slight differences between the university culture and school culture. This transition between school and university can make some students feel overwhelmed and lost. Therefore, in order to facilitate their transition and assimilation into the university culture, Foundation in Arts (FIA) students are paired with faculty mentors who support them throughout the programme by providing academic advice to their mentees. Students normally begin to express themselves and reveal their potential by the second semester. Mentors help students to be aware of their potential, preparing them for future success by identifying their strengths and weaknesses.
Foundation in Arts students will also be given a conditional offer into one of IMU’s local undergraduate programmes, and successful completion of this would enable progression to an undergraduate programme in IMU, subject to achieving the entry requirements and meeting all prerequisites.
