We are proud to announce that A/Prof Dr Sow Chew Fei from IMU University‘s Clinical Skills Department was honoured with the Best Presentation Award in the Professionalism Category at the 16th Jakarta Meeting on Medical Education (JAKMED 2024), held on 18-19 October at Universitas Indonesia. Her presentation, titled “Enhancing Reflective Practice in Healthcare Education: Integrating Frameworks for Effective Learning,” highlighted innovative approaches to improving reflective practices among health professions educators.
Dr Sow’s work, co-authored with Dr Supathiratheavy Rasiah and Prof Er Hui Meng, addresses the importance of reflective practice in fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills in health professions education.
Their study explores the integration of the “What” model reflective frameworks with Kolb’s Experiential Learning Model and Gibbs’ Reflective Cycle, creating two structured yet adaptable frameworks for educators to enhance reflective learning experiences effectively.
