Projects under Fund Raising Events

The IMU Chariofare is composed of two major activities, namely the charity run and the carnival. The charity run consists of three categories, the 3 km, 5 km, and 10 km run. The carnival consists of booths that are set up by IMU staff of all departments to provide a range of activities from food & beverage sales to fun games. Every year, we have over 200 volunteering IMU students who dedicate their time and tireless effort in organising this major university event. On average, there are approximately 1,800 runners and over 3,000 carnival participants each year from various communities and organisations. The funds collected were used for various charity initiatives including medical and education expenses, stroke and palliative care, rebuilding a children’s home that was burned down, as well as humanitarian aid (both locally and internationally).

IMU COVID-19 Humanitarian Aid Mission

IMU has come together to form a volunteer taskforce team, with a steadily growing number of 82 members working on more than 60 initiatives, coordinated by Prof Khoo Suan Phaik. The task force comprises mainly IMU students, alumni, and staff.

All funds raised in 2020, through donations and Chariofare 2020 activities, will be directed solely into the COVID-19 disaster cause. Volunteer effort includes two phases; Phase 1: The urgent phase where immediate relief was given to communities/families/front liners in dire need, and Phase 2: Rebuilding lives of communities affected by COVID19 through continued IMU Cares project activities via MPU4, student clubs, and societies and other platforms for community work.
