9 May 2014 – A group of IMU pharmacy students spent a day at an old folks home, Rumah Sejahtera Seri Seria, Sungai Way, Petaling Jaya. During the visit, the students conducted health screenings and self- care counseling sessions for all residents. The session then continued with student performances, games and lucky draws to engage and interact with the old folks.
This project by the pharmacy students is a diabetic intervention activity under the programme’s Semester 4 module on health promotion. Prior to this visit, this group of pharmacy students organised a food sale to raise funds for the home. The funds were then used to purchase daily necessities for the home which caters to old folks from the ages of 60-100.
