25 June 2014 – 225 participants from 59 healthcare organisations attended the Midwifery Symposium at Summit Hotel, Subang Jaya. These participants consist of midwives, ward managers, nursing lecturers, clinical instructors, nursing administrators and community midwives. The one-day symposium was organised by International Medical College (IMC) and highlighted updates on Trends and Practices in Obstetric Care. This Symposium provides a platform for the participants to network and share their knowledge and experiences of obstetric practise that will improve quality of care. It also discusses current issues and trends that affect midwifery practice. Distinguished speakers at this conference include T Selvin Subramaniam, Director of Nursing – Nursing Board Malaysia; Prof Dato’ Dr Sivalingam Nalliah, Dr Mohd. Farouk Abdullah, Prof Kwa Siew Kim and A/Prof Dr Ani Amelia Zainuddin. These speakers were from both public and private healthcare institutions. The conference had plenaries on key areas which includes Regulation Of Midwifery Practice In Malaysia, Importance of Risk Management in OBGYN and Legal Issues, Management of Obstetric Emergencies and Pre -Conception Care for Pre- Existing Diabetes.
