Ng Su Wei started her degree in nursing at IMU in 2014 and will be graduating in June 2016. She relates to us her experience of studying her degree in IMU. “My two-year journey in IMU was truly exciting and rewarding. The specifically designed Bachelor Degree of Nursing Science (Hons) programme for registered nurses was well-tailored to me and helped me a lot in my subsequent career in Saudi Arabia. This programme applies the principle of andragogy and reflective learning and, despite being a long-distance learner, I always felt that I still have a facilitated approach to learning as I was fully supported by the nursing lecturers and peers throughout the course. Speaking enthusiastically about the degree programe, Su Wei said, “I really liked the wide-range of modules covered in this programme. Not only did I learn about the various nursing models as well as ethics and law, but I was also acquired knowledge in leadership and management strategies. Furthermore, I was exposed to advanced health assessment education and superb teaching/learning as well as research/statistics modules.” “The programme has strengthened my career as a nurse, leader, health advocate, educator and researcher. It is really a great honour to be now acknowledged as a valued IMU graduate practitioner in recognition of my professionalism, evidence-based practice, ethical thinking and critical decision making skills,” added Su Wei. “Last but not least, the strong foundation that I have gained in my nursing career has provided me with the tools to pursue my dream of entering medical school. In the future, I am confident that my background as a nurse will be of great help for my medical career.” Su Wei has since enrolled herself into a medical programme.
