23 November 2013 – Ms Lim Swee Geok, one of the Nursing lecturers at the International Medical University (IMU), was awarded the second prize for her poster presentation entitled “A Study on the Level of Awareness towards Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccination among Malaysian Women” at the 2nd NUS – NUH International Nursing Conference and 18th Singapore-Malaysia Nursing Conference held recently. This research project was conducted with her student, Ms Thow Meei Jiun (NU1/09). A total of 57 posters were submitted from various countries including Singapore, Taiwan, China, Japan, Finland, Indonesia and South Africa, in which both posters from Malaysia are from IMU. The 2nd NUS-NUH International Nursing Conference and 18th Singapore-Malaysia Nursing Conference was held on 21-23 November 2013 at Furama Riverfront Hotel, Singapore. The theme of the conference is ‘Positioning Nursing for the Future: Advancing Excellence in Integrated Care’. The objectives of this year’s annual conference were to provide a valuable opportunity for nurses from different cultural backgrounds and diverse fields to examine the role of nurses in integrated care from an international perspective, to promote the generation and implementation of evidence-based practice related to integrated care. Through sharing and exchange of information on the latest developments in the disciplines among experts from across the globe, the conference hopes to contribute to formulating global and regional strategies in advancing nurses’ contributions towards integrated care. The conference was attended by 300 delegates from 17 countries all over the world. It was graced by keynote speakers coming from diverse nursing specialisations such as the Community, Education, Clinical and Hospital Administration.
