5 December 2014 – An International Medical University (IMU) Pharmaceutical Chemistry Alumnus, Chong Ming Kang, was presented with the IKM Graduate Chemistry Award at the Malam Kimia 2014, an event held by the Malaysian Institute of Chemistry (IKM) at Sime Darby Convention Centre, Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur. The IKM Graduate Chemistry Award is awarded to Chemistry graduates with outstanding performance in the Bachelor of Science programmes in Chemistry at local universities and higher learning institutions. Ming Kang joined IMU’s Pharmaceutical Chemistry programme in 2011 and graduated in 2014. He said, “I feel honored to receive this award as this is a recognition for my academic achievements in IMU.”
Recalling the invaluable time that he has spent at IMU, Ming Kang said, “The lecturers’ invaluable guidance throughout my three years in IMU has helped me in strengthening my knowledge as well as my interest in the pharmaceutical industry. The hands-on learning experience in the laboratory has also provided me with laboratory skills which are very useful in helping me to adjust quickly to my current job as a research assistant.”
Currently, Ming Kang is working as a research assistant in the Chemistry department of University Malaya.
