IMU Psychology Alumnus, Ho Jon Fhat, chose to pursue a degree in psychology due to its versatility: A psychology degree could open up potentials for employability within diverse fields such as clinical, health, corporate and social settings. He joined IMU in 2010 and graduated in 2013. Upon graduating, he worked in Shell as a Human Resource Advisor. He is currently working as an Executive, Performance Management at Sime Darby.
“Prior to joining IMU, I was interested in clinical psychology and since IMU is a medical university with the most clinical centric subjects, I decided to join IMU. The second reason which is also a very strong reason would be the fact that IMU provides student-centered education through small group teaching. Hence students get personalised attention which subsequently contributed to optimal academic achievements. I prefer to study in a smaller class size rather than a big group of students.” Jon has always been interested in the performance of employees and measurement of their performance, an important factor on how an organisation is going to reward and promote them. At Sime Darby, he is in charge of the overall performance management of Sime Darby Industrial (Asia), job evaluation, performance scorecard & KPI audit, competency management, performance improvement plan, performance calibration & promotion exercise. Moving forward, he would love to venture in Performance & Rewards function.
“What I have learnt in IMU is useful in my current job, especially the communication and counseling skills with employees or non-performers”, said Jon Fhat.
