IMU Research Lab Accredited by ISO/IEC 17025:2005

09 Jul 2014

23 May 2104 – The IMU Research Laboratory obtained accreditation from the International Standard ISO/IEC 17025:2005. The Research Laboratory is accredited for 3 years, until 23 May 2017. This accreditation demonstrates that the IMU Research Laboratory is technically competent for a defined scope of testing services. Developed by the International Organisation for Stanardization (ISO), the ISO/IEC 17025:2005 is an international standard designed for accreditation of laboratories offering testing and calibration services.

Certificate of Accreditation ISO IEC 17025 2005

ISO/IEC 17025:2005 contains all the requirements that testing and calibration laboratories must meet to demonstrate that they operate quality management systems (QMS), are technically competent, and can generate technically valid results. ISO/IEC 17025:2005 covers matters such as quality system, personnel, document control, review of requests, tenders and contracts, subcontracting of tests and calibrations, purchasing services and supplies, services to the client, control of records, internal audits, accommodation and environmental conditions, test and calibration methods and method validation, equipment, measurement of traceability, sampling, handling of test and calibration items, and reporting the results.

Researcher using Centrifuge in LabThe IMU Research Laboratory which occupies more than 26,000 square feet at its main campus in Bukit Jalil, houses a wide range of equipment for the conduct of biomedical research and analytical services. One major area involves the determination of the quality of water and other biological samples through the detection of both chemical and biological contaminants. For instance, ICP-MS is used to detect heavy metals and trace elements in environmental test samples. Besides water quality, IMU in partnership with SRAS Bhd also provide consultative and testing services for monitoring of indoor/outdoor air quality. In addition, researchers can also access some of the equipment in the laboratory on an on-site rental basis such as scanning electron microscope, flowcytometer and the Luminex system. On top of that, IMU researchers also provide advisory and consultative services in the design and planning of research in specialised areas, as well as undertake contract research. Congratulations to the Institute for Research, Development and Innovation (IRDI) team members and all the staff in the Research Lab.

    Good-day IMU,

Does IMU accept private company request? I would like to do a lab test on my product on:
    1) Toxicity test
    2) Heavy metal test
    3) Steroid test
My product is an eye drop.

    Thanks.
    Samuel
