24 November 2018, The Pearl, Kuala Lumpur – The Alumni Homecoming Night was a celebration in conjunction with the 10th Anniversary of the International Medical University (IMU)’s School of Health Sciences. The aim of the event was for the alumni to reconnect with the current staff and students, for networking purposes within themselves and within the alumni and the students. Additionally, through this event they aimed to build a sense of community to strengthen the bond between IMU and its alumni, both of which have been successfully achieved.
At the event, there was a photo booth next to the registration table, one that was enjoyed by everyone, committee and guests alike. The main ballroom in the hotel was beautifully decorated with balloons and other decorations to match the black and gold theme set for the event.
The night commenced with an opening ceremony consisting of speeches from President of IMU Health, Vice Chancellor and CEO of IMU, Prof Aziz Baba, Dean, School of Health Sciences, Prof Winnie Chee and the President of Alumni Homecoming Night 2018, Priscillia Choy Sze Mun. Following this was a group photo of all attending the event. After that, the guests adjourned to a delicious Western style buffet dinner. Throughout the dinner, a video with messages from overseas alumni was played where they briefly shared their wisdom and stories.
The first performance of the night was solo singing by Jessica Janani Devendra. Jessica’s beautiful and melodious performance was then followed up an inspiring and motivational talk by the guest speaker, Ms Angela, on “Down the rabbit hole… and trippin’ back up again”. The second performance was a captivating dance number led by Astriti Vatwani, Daphne Maria and Sim Qui Qi. The last performance was by the talented band, The Indecisives. After each performance throughout the night was a lucky draw session, not only did the value of the prizes increase with each successive session, but so did the anticipation and excitement of the audience. A big congratulation to all the lucky winners!
To end the night on a sweet note, the closing remarks were given by the advisor of the event, Ng Kar Foo in which he acknowledged the amount of hard work and effort the committee members had put in for months, calling each of them on stage for appreciation of their flawless execution.
