15 March 2014 – The Lend a Hand Project was carried out in conjunction with Hindu Cultural Week. 3 representatives from IMU Hindu Society visited Saravanan Caring Home, Seksyen 25, Shah Alam to hand out donated items collected throughout the week at IMU as well as to spend quality time with the children. Throughout the week, besides the three bags of clothes and shoes, a sum of money was collected. The money was from both donation and fund raising sale organised at the atrium, IMU Bukit Jalil campus. As we arrived, we were greeted by the children. We ordered snacks for tea time which was curry puff and vadai. Together with the children, we had a heartwarming prayer and thanked God for all the blessings.
The founder of the home, Mr Muneswaran was pleased to see us dropping by to spend time with the children. He has requested another visit by the students of IMU to help with cleaning the premise and tutoring the kids. It was a wonderful experience for the children and the students. It takes one person to start a tradition and it takes another to keep it alive. Together, hopefully we can contribute to the community and continue doing good deeds!
