In a bid to foster an entrepreneurial spirit among IMU University’s undergraduate students, the School of Health Sciences (SoHS) collaborated with the School of Pharmacy (SoP) as well as Industrial Partnership and Engagement (IPE) for an extended edition of its Young Entrepreneur Challenges in 2023. The introductory event, held on 21 April 2024 saw an impressive turnout of over 282 students and a number of faculty members from diverse academic backgrounds. The event served as a platform to introduce entrepreneurship within IMU University and featured keynote speakers and panel discussions with prominent figures in the entrepreneurial world.
Prof Gerry George, Group Managing Director of IMU University, delivered an opening remark emphasising innovation as the foundation of successful entrepreneurship. His insights resonated with the attendees, setting the stage for an engaging and informative event.
One of the highlights of the event was the personal journey shared by Azran Osman-Rani, Co-Founder and CEO of Naluri. Azran’s unconventional path to success provided invaluable insights into the entrepreneurial mindset, inspiring aspiring entrepreneurs in the audience.

Topics discussed during the forum ranged from collaboration and funding to motivation and feedback, providing attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the entrepreneurial landscape.
In a groundbreaking move, Prof Khoo Suan Phaik, Dean of Community Engagement at IMU University, introduced the concept of social entrepreneurship. This innovative approach to business ventures focuses on making a positive social impact, reflecting IMU University’s commitment to fostering socially responsible entrepreneurship.
Expressing their gratitude, participants highlighted the enriching experience of learning from both the keynote speakers and fellow attendees. Many acknowledged the forum as a valuable resource for gaining practical insights and expanding their entrepreneurial horizons. As the curtains closed on the Entrepreneurship 101 Talk event, its impact reverberated among participants, leaving them energised and empowered to embark on their entrepreneurial journeys with newfound vigour and determination.
