4 April, 2014 – IMU’s annual ball for this year was held at The Royale Chulan Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. A committee comprising of IMU students organised this event with aid from the Student Representative Council and Student Services.
The aim of this event is to bring together the graduating batches of all the courses offered by IMU in the hope of allowing them a final formal farewell and to create memories to bring with them as they move on to their next phase in life.
Students were dressed to the nines and the event kick-started with a speech from Prof Toh Chooi Gait, IMU’s Dean, School of Dentistry, and Subbashini A/P Sekar Chandran, President of the 2014 IMU Ball Welcoming Committee. Daryl Goh and Abigail Dayang Nathan, the emcees from the night then introduced themselves and got the crowd excited for the events throughout the night.
During the night, there was a performance by members of the IMU Dance Club and a lucky draw. The next event was the crowning of prom king and queen, as voted by the participants of the ball. The main course was served shortly after that, accompanied by instrumental music. The atmosphere was jovial as students freely mingled from table to table, chatting and taking photographs to remember the night for years to come. Good times in IMU were reminisced and new memories were created on this special night.
The last event planned was a slow dance by the prom king and queen, followed by the rest of the participants. A live band contributed to the music, giving an overall bittersweet atmosphere as the night came to an end. The ball was a success and achieved its goal of allowing the seniors to take a reprieve from studying, have fun and strengthen friendships.
