29 June 2013 –As one of the projects for the IMU Yoga Club and in conjunction with World Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Day, International Medical University (IMU), Novartis Corporation (Malaysia) and Malaysia Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society organised a public forum titled “Challenges of MS and how to fight!” at the University’s campus in Bukit Jalil. The main speaker for the forum was Dr Joyce Joseph, a consultant neurologist at Hospital Kuala Lumpur and advisor to the MS Society in Malaysia. Dr Joyce earned her specialist degree in MS from Australia. Some MS patients also shared their experiences and their coping strategies at the forum.
Opening remarks were made by MS Malaysia President, Padma Panikker with a few other activities planned for the day. These activities include the launch of a MS Newsletter, a video presentation “Sketch on MS” and a yoga session. Participants of the yoga session which included members of the IMU Yoga Club as well as faculty and staff members of the University enjoyed the yoga session as the the instructor was very good in her demonstration and teaching.
The half day forum was well attended and very informative.
