Long COVID syndrome (LCS) is the experiencing of new or ongoing symptoms that last longer than 12 weeks, and are not explained by an alternative diagnosis. It can be difficult to determine if LCS is solely due to COVID-19 or from other contributing factors such as long hospital or ICU stay, effects of long isolation on the mental wellbeing, or from other illnesses already present in the person (diabetes, high blood pressure, etc). Prof James Koh Kwee Choy, Infectious Disease Consultant & Head, Division of Medicine, School of Medicine, International Medical University explains more on this.
