10 May 2014 – The Goodwill Games 2014 between IMU Bukit Jalil campus and IMU Seremban campus was held at the Paroi Sport Centre in Seremban. The event started with a simple opening ceremony and later, each game began at approximately 9:00 a.m. There were five categories namely the men’s double and single, women’s double and single and mix double.
The badminton team representing Bukit Jalil campus consisted of 11 players which includes staffs and students. In each of the five categories, players had to win at least 2 out of 3 games to gain a credit and the team with most credits won. It was the Seremban badminton team who was victorious at the end of the competition.
After our competition, while waiting for other sports to finish their matches, we mixed around with the seniors and continue playing for a few friendly games. It was really a wonderful experience as it was the first time for most of us to join this event. Even though we lost, we enjoyed and had a lot of fun along the competition as well as the friendly games after that. Along the games, we cheered for our team, planned strategies among us and played our best. We hugged each other to keep our spirits up no matter win or lose. Friendship and bonds among us definitely meant more than just the win or lose. After the games, we even had lunch together before the prize giving ceremony. We chatted a lot with each other and the seniors kindly shared their experiences too. With this opportunity, we got to know more seniors and met new friends. They were all friendly, nice and energetic people. It was really enjoyable to mix around with a bunch of people through sports. It was a memorable time.
