Professor Dr Nilesh Kumar Mitra has been teaching anatomy to medical and health science students for the past 28 years and teaching Health Professions Education to postgraduate students for the last 12 years. Currently, he holds the position of Dean of Teaching and Learning at the International Medical University since 2022. Prior to this, he was the Associate Dean of Technology Enhanced Learning at IMU from 2020 to 2022. Prof. Nilesh has completed his MBBS degree from R G Kar Medical College, Calcutta University and his Master of Surgery from Nagpur University, India. He has also completed a Master's degree in Education from Malaysia. Prof. Nilesh has played a significant role in the development of the curriculum map and initiation of online Moodle-based assessment at IMU. He is also the chairperson of the IMU AI working group and president of the Asia Pacific Association of PBL in Health Science (APA-PHS). He has organized and facilitated more than 20 national and international workshops and symposiums on medical education topics in the last 3 years. Neuroscience, particularly neurohistology in neurodegenerative diseases, is his area of research interest, and he has published 40 research articles, including 2 e-book chapters. He has received Liza Chako Memorial Gold Medal for the best publication in the Journal of Anatomical Society of India in 2006, the Best Poster Award in the Asia-Pacific Congress of Anatomy in 2016, the Achievement Award for e-learning IMU 2017, and the Best Oral Presentation Award in the MAEMHS conference in 2018.
