The 16th IMU Family Medicine Clinical Skills Course, organised by the Family Medicine Department of IMU School of Medicine, took place on Saturday, 27 May 2023. As had been in previous years, it was a very much sought-after CME and was once again one of IMU’s successful educational events. This was the 16th consecutive year IMU had successfully supported the Academy of Family Physicians of Malaysia in hosting this event with the objective of raising standards of general practice in Malaysia.
The workshop, which covered areas of clinical importance in general practice, was designed and officially offered for postgraduate trainees of the Academy of Family Physicians of Malaysia in preparation for their Conjoint MAFP/FRACGP Examination. This event was held as an online Clinical Competency Examination (CCE) in keeping with the examination format of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
The event was also open to all other interested general practitioners and medical students to gain an exemplary educational experience. It attracted participants from both the Ministry of Health and private practice.
With the extremely positive feedback that was obtained from the participants, the department is inspired to now look at even more innovative ways in the delivery of CMEs in the near future.
