19 January 2014 – The Student Ambassadors of the International Medical University (IMU) participated in bonding activities which were held at Skytrex, Taman Botani Shah Alam, Selangor. These activities are one of the activities for the Student Ambassadors in addition to leadership camps, personal development seminars and team-building workshops, activities that are aimed at producing tomorrows’ leaders. The activities were organised to form stronger bonds and build stronger connections amongst the students, bringing them closer, not just as student ambassadors but also as friends. These activities also help to them to better understand each other, making it easier for these students to work together and making decisions as a group.
Wong Mei Ji, a student Ambassador who participated in this activity, said “It was an awesome outing. We experienced challenges, fear and were relieved that it somehow turned out to be so much fun. The activities mainly involved using physical strength that challenged our limits and fear of heights. It was particularly heart-warming to see all of us looking out for each other so that no one was left behind. Words of encouragement, or a helping hand when someone was stuck in a task, were given without a second thought on whoever it was. Climbing up the tree vertically was one of the most challenging yet exciting tasks in Skytrex though it left us with so much aches and pain. ”
From these activities, the Student Ambassadors learned to support each other mentally and that eventually made facing challenges together much easier. Teamwork came into play when they needed to help each other in facing obstacles.
“The most important thing was that we were able to complete the Skytrex activities together and we are now closer than before. The activities were such a good break for us from our revision and assignments. We could exercise and have fun while proving that the outing was a good stress reliever. At the same time, we had the opportunity to enjoy the beauty that nature has to offer. The green leaves and skyscraping trees were such a pleasant sight to our eyes. Before we called it a day and headed back home, we went to i-City, Shah Alam to take some pictures and just enjoyed the rest of the night there”, added Mei Ji.
