Dr Ng Wei Liang shares his Postgraduate Diploma in Endodontics journey at IMU. Endodontics is a branch of dentistry which deals with tooth pain and the preservation of natural teeth. The Postgraduate Diploma in Endodontics training at IMU will not only endow candidates with the knowledge, abilities, and self-assurance necessary to perform evidence-based endodontic treatment on clinical cases with varying degrees of complexity, but also result in more consistent clinical outcomes that deliver superior quality care.
The objective of the Postgraduate Diploma in Endodontics programme at IMU is to train students in understanding the pulpal and periapical pathophysiology, evidence-based selection of suitable dental materials and instruments, educate students in the fundamental rationale of clinical techniques, and the management of moderately challenging failed endodontic cases. This programme is specifically tailored to accommodate the flexible needs of both full-time and part-time students.
The programme consists of six modules distributed over the course of two semesters, each lasting seventeen weeks, and requiring a total of thirty credit hours to be completed in one year. Each module has an approximate six-week duration, which includes a mandatory one-week of on-site activities at the IMU School of Dentistry.
Students are presented with the option of performing clinical cases either at the IMU Oral Health Centre or in their individual clinics. To promote optimal learning at IMU, each student is allocated a personal mentor who would provide support and guidance in their academic endeavours.
