Introducing a Foundation in Science Programme at IMU

10 October 2013 – International Medical University (IMU) is pleased to announce the introduction of its very own Foundation in Science. This Foundation in Science will be awarded by IMU, Malaysia’s first and most established private medical and healthcare university with over 21 years of dedicated focus in healthcare education. The Foundation in Science is the preferred foundation for entry into any of the University’s local degree programmes. A 1-year programme conducted in 3 semesters, the Foundation in Science has three intakes: January, May and September. It will be offered at IMU’s main campus in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur. One of the key features of the IMU Foundation in Science is the early integration into the university community and exposure to IMU’s learning methodologies in a stimulating and conducive learning environment. Learning is thus fully interconnected – academically, socially and culturally. Foundation in Science students in IMU will also have numerous opportunities to interact with staff and students of other programmes and to fully explore the various areas in healthcare professions. This experience will assist in identifying the degree and career of choice. Another unique feature of the IMU Foundation in Science is its Cross Boundary Studies where students have the opportunity to work in collaborative groups to explore issues in an inter-disciplinary approach, strategise and implement changes that have positive impact. Students will be able to communicate how they apply their knowledge to solve this issue. Foundation in Science students offered a place in this programme will also be given a conditional offer into one of IMU’s local undergraduate programmes. The programmes they are offered will depend on their SPM/O’Level grades. Successful completion of this Foundation in Science would enable progression to an undergraduate programme in IMU, subject to achieving the entry requirements and meeting all prerequisites. Scholarships are available for Malaysian and international school leavers who have good results in their actual SPM / O-Level examinations and proven leadership qualities. Eligible students will be invited to apply for the scholarship through their Foundation in Science letter of offer. The amount received by the scholarship recipients will depend on their SPM / O-Level examinations results upon application of IMU Foundation in Science.
