“The healthcare industry is rapidly changing with the acceleration of technology. This partnership is timely as we continue to equip and upskill the healthcare workforce of today and tomorrow with skills that are relevant to meet the demands of the industry,” said Prof Abdul Aziz Baba, Vice-Chancellor, IMU. “This collaboration is to reduce the unemployment rate of graduates and help improve the economy, especially in the health industry,” said Noor Hisham bin Mohd Ghouth, Executive Director, SELGATE Healthcare Sdn Bhd.
This memorandum of understanding will also benefit graduates from public and private institutes of learning, whom they will be trained by IMU. This is to prepare them for their next career path as “Nurse Assistants” through Selcare Nursing Sdn Bhd. With the existence of this collaboration, the rate of unemployment will be reduced thus leading to a better economy.

About International Medical University |
Founded in 1992, the International Medical University (IMU) is Malaysia’s first full-fledged private medical and health sciences university. Today, the IMU offers 27 health professional programmes at pre-university, undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Health Sciences, Complementary and Alternative Medicine. Providing students the options to complete their degree in Malaysia or abroad, IMU has credit-transfer agreements in place with 32 prestigious universities in the world. In year 2020, IMU was awarded the QS 5 Stars Rating and the SETARA 2018/19 – Six Stars Rating under the Mature University category by the Ministry of Higher Education is for its second consecutive year. This is in addition to the self-accreditation status awarded by the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA). The self-accreditation status entitles a higher education provider (HEP) to accredit its programmes except for programmes that require accreditation and recognition of the relevant professional body. IMU is the only private Malaysian University in this category to receive these achievements. As part of IMU’s vision in the creation of the IMU Academic Health Centre (AHC), IMU has expended its Healthcare arm from ambulatory care services including chiropractic and Chinese medicine services to building its own IMU Hospital. The IMU Hospital is targeted to open its services to the public by 2022. The AHC’s vision is to integrate education, research and healthcare for better educators, better researchers and better healthcare professionals – which will translate into better-equipped students and graduates and ultimately better patient care. |
