10 May 2014 – IMU Kluang Campus organised a Health Awreness Campaign including, Free Health Screen and Cancer Awareness Campaign at “Kluang Mall” in Kluang. It was the first community project in Kluang by IMU.
At this health awareness campaign, there were screening clinics to screen obesity, hypertension, diabetes and dyslipidaemia to all who visited the mall on that day. Cancer awareness booths were also available to address issues related to cancer and empowering the knowledge for early suspicion and prevention. At the same event, we organised a blood donation campaign in cooperation with Blood Bank Hospital Kluang. Our enthusiastic team, including Semester 10 students from Kluang and Batu Pahat, faculty members and corporate staff started the event at 10 am, with a formal inauguration by Dr Chin Pek Woon, Head of Department of Internal Medicine Hospital Kluang along with Batu-Pahat campus faculty Prof Mohamed Rifdy and A/Prof Ramji Narayanan.
” A total of 200 people registered for health screening and were pleased with the service provided to them. 60 people donated the precious gift of blood through the Kluang Hospital Blood Bank while hundreds participated in the various awareness campaigns.”
The event was well organised and well received by the Kluang public who participated in huge numbers.
