Kuala Lumpur, 8 June 2018 – The International Medical College (IMC), a private college with a long standing reputation in providing nursing education signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cardiac Vascular Sentral Kuala Lumpur (CVSKL), an integrated hospital specialising in comprehensive care for patients with cardiac and vascular diseases to grant opportunities to enhance academic knowledge, upgrading of skills, training and professional development for both parties. The MoU was signed by Christy Chiu Lai Heng, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of IMC, and YBhg Dato’ Dr Sharifah Suraya Syed Mohd Tahir, CVSKL’s Medical Director. The collaboration establishes a relationship between IMC and CVSKL to provide industry experience and work environment exposure for IMC students through clinical attachments in the modern and state of the art facilities of CVSKL. The memorandum also grants CVSKL opportunities to serve as advisors for curriculum review of relevant post basic programmes undertaken by the College.
“The MoU stresses the importance of continuing professional education and upgrading of skills for healthcare professionals for better patient care and safety. This collaboration will offer students an avenue for practical training in niche areas such as cardiac and vascular diseases. It will complement IMC’s aspirations to offer specialised nursing programmes to nurses and allied health professional” said Christy Chiu, CEO of IMC.
CVSKL Chairman, YBhg Tan Sri Dr Yahya Awang, said that the MoU is in line with the hospital’s aspiration to be a cardiac and vascular center of excellence in the region. This collaboration will see CVSKL contributing to the nation by imparting its best practices and knowledge in cardiac and vascular diseases to future healthcare professionals so that overall healthcare standards in the country can be elevated.
