7 October 2020 – The IMU Centre for Lifelong Learning organised a one-day Basic Life Support (BLS) training for selected staff and students of one of the top engineering higher learning institutions, German-Malaysian Institute (GMI) which is situated in Kajang, Selangor Darul Ehsan. At the training, participants were eager to learn new skills in emergency support. This training is relevant to their daily operations where technical training is delivered with practical activities using machineries. Besides this, they carry out industrial projects and are prone to injuries if they are un-attentive to safety precautions and procedures. The workshop was conducted by a team of highly experienced speakers and facilitators from the IMU Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre (CSSC), Malini Krishna, Siti Ramlah, Normy and Suhaila. These team members have many years of practical experience in emergency, trauma and critical care. The training began with lectures, followed by demonstration and simulation. Participants were evaluated on individual performance conducting CPR and first aid techniques. At the end of the session, participants were given a written test to evaluate their knowledge during the training. They actively participated in this course by asking a lot of questions, volunteering and taking part in group activities. The BLS training received a lot of positive feedback from the GMI participants.
