21 September 2013 – More than RM 150,000 was raised at the IMU Chariofare, a Charity Carnival and Charity Run with all the proceeds going to charity. The event with the theme ‘Live.Run.Love’ was held at the International Medical University’s (IMU) Bukit Jalil Campus in Kuala Lumpur. The event was organised to raise funds for two beneficiaries: Penang Hospice Society and National Stroke Association of Malaysia (NASAM). Children from three IMU Cares adopted home, Ti-Ratana, Desa Petaling, Precious Children Home, PJ and Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Sayang also joined the fun activities at the IMU Chariofare. The highlight of the event was the Charity Run on the morning of 21 September. The run had three categories, which includes a 3km Family Run Category and is open to Malaysians and international runners. All participants who completed the run was given a finishers’ certificate with the top 100 runners in all categories (except Family Run) receiving a finishers’ medal.
This year, 1, 569 runners joined the Charity Run. One of these participants was a blind runner from Jordan, Mr Suhel Elnshash, who got 10th place in the 10 km run. His coach, Mr Mohammad Alswait ran with him in this Run. This runner has participated in various runs around the world but this is the first time he is running in Malaysia. 
Besides the run, the charity carnival had a lineup of exciting activities. These include performances from IMU students, game booths, food and drink stalls, lucky draw and a dunking tank. This year, the organising committee received a lot of contribution and support from sponsors in the sharing of ideas on run preparations as well as providing great prizes and products for the lucky draw. As IMU is a medical university, there were also medical screenings, oral health checks and psychological assessments at the Chariofare. 
The Penang Hospice Society was formed in 2001 under the auspices of The National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) Penang, with the aim of providing free palliative care for terminally ill or patients with advanced illness. The Penang Hospice team consists of full-time doctors and a nurse co-ordinator as well as a team of well trained volunteers consisting of doctors, nurses and social workers who provide both At Home Services (Hospice at home programme) and In-patient services at the Rumah Hospis Pulau Pinang. National Stroke Association of Malaysia or NASAM started in 1996. The primary objective is to provide rehab services (physiotherapy, occupational and speech therapy) to enable stroke survivors to return to as normal a life as possible within the limits of their disabilities and promote the concept of stroke prevention by raising public awareness on the risk of stroke.
