9 April 2013 – Four IMU students received the Maxis Scholarships for Excellence Awards (MSEA) at an award ceremony at Menara Maxis, KLCC. Three of these students, Ms Genevieve Keizha Leon, Ms Lallitha a/p S P Sivalingam and Ms Lim Koo Koon are medical students. Genevieve and Lallitha are both in the first year of their studies while Koo Koon is in her third year. Another IMU student who received the award, Ms Jocelyn Tang Phaik Lin is a second year student in the IMU psychology programme. The Scholarships were presented to the recipients by Maxis Chairman, YM Raja Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Arshad Raja Tun Uda. Genevieve was one of the recipients who were selected to give an acceptance speech at the award ceremony.
The four students are among 17 high achieving young Malaysians who received the Scholarship to pursue undergraduate studies locally or abroad in leading Malaysian universities and some of the world’s most prestigious universities. The recipients had to go through a rigorous two level interview process and are selected in the final stage by a panel of distinguished judges. They must excel academically, possess a good command of the English language (written and oral); excel in extra-curricular activities and possess leadership qualities.
Three IMU students, two medical students and a chiropractic student received the MSEA last year. Congratulations to all the MSEA recipients.
