A registered nurse, Yeoh Min Yan recently completed her Bachelor of Nursing Science (Hons) Post Registration programme at the International Medical University (IMU). She was one of the students who graduated with a First Class Honours and was on the Deans’ list of graduands with high academic achievements in the November 2018 graduating cohort. Min Yan reveals to us the secrets to her success.
“There is no one definite way of success in this achievement. For me, everyone can do it. I aim for my goal and every step counts towards achieving the end results. Time management is the crucial key as our degree programme were meant to be for working adults. I usually plan ahead for my assignment schedule according to a timetable which allow me to arrange time for other things and not clash with this assignment schedule. Moreover, don’t procrastinate the work that can be done as sometimes emergencies could happen that need immediate attention and would interrupt the initial schedule.” “Nevertheless, sacrifice is also a must to achieve your goal. Throughout these 2 years, I had reduced the time spent hanging out with friends and families. Communication is key in making them understand my situation so that they can provide me full support throughout the course. I dare not say that conflicts did not happen in between, but I would say that this is a chance to test our perseverance and the ‘true colour’ of the relationships. I am glad that we still have the close knit relationship at the end of the course. Besides, it is vital to have people to refer to when we face difficulties or problems encountered during the course of study.” “Tutors were approachable. However, as I stay in Penang which is far away from the campus in Kuala Lumpur, I usually approached the course senior who had achieved the goal that I wanted to achieve as they had walked through it and their experience had always provided me insight to move forward.”
“Finally, success is a habit that is gained from the little steps we take, it is a decisive move each time that certainly leads to the pathway we plan. Hence, never lose your goal in any circumstances and wish everyone could success in the way that you all want to achieve it!”
Congratulations to Min Yan!
