IMU Nutrition and Dietetics Student wins first prize at NSM Young Investigator’s Symposium 2013

30 May 2013 – Third Year IMU Nutrition & Dietetics student, Chan Sin May, made the University proud by winning the first prize at the Nutrition Society of Malaysia (NSM) Young Investigator’s Symposium 2013, beating 6 other shortlisted finalists from Malaysian public and private universities. The first IMU student to participate in such a symposium, Sin May’s winning oral presentation is on her undergraduate research study “Dietary Intake and Urinary Excretion of Sodium and Potassium among Female Adults in a University in Kuala Lumpur”.  Dean of School of Health Sciences, Prof Khor Geok Lin was the supervisor for this project. The NSM Young Investigator’s Symposium 2013 was part of the 28th Scientific Conference of the Nutrition Society of Malaysia held at in Kuala Lumpur with the theme “Promoting Better Nutrition for All”. This symposium serves as a platform for shortlisted undergraduate students to present their research findings and is a continuing effort of the NSM to provide incentives to young researchers in the field of nutrition.
