On September 17 to 19, 2025, the IMU Chinese Medicine Club successfully organised the IMU Chinese Medicine Week 2025 at the Atrium of IMU’s main campus in Bukit Jalil with the theme “One Herb One Cure”. This event brought together about 150 participants and was supported by 76 dedicated helpers from the Chinese Medicine programme. The event was a vibrant celebration of Chinese Medicine culture, aimed at raising public awareness and fostering stronger bonds among university faculty and students.
The event was guided by the theme “One Herb One Cure”, which beautifully encapsulates the foundational principles of Chinese medicine:
- “One Herb” represents a single medicinal herb, also referred to as a “single formula” or “herb.” Each herb possesses distinct properties, flavors, meridian affiliations, and therapeutic effects. It serves as the fundamental building block of medicinal formulas.
- “One Cure” denotes compound formulas composed of multiple herbs, crafted not simply by mixing herbs randomly but by carefully combining them according to traditional Chinese Medicine principles to form an integrated and harmonious prescription.
“One Herb” is the foundation, while “One Cure” is its sophisticated expression. This theme reflects the progression in Chinese Medicine thinking—from simplicity to complexity, from individual elements to holistic treatment. A skilled practitioner must deeply understand the nature of each herb and masterfully blend them to create effective formulas.
Embracing "One Herb": The Foundation of Knowledge
The event activities focused on the “One Herb” concept provided a deep dive into the raw materials of Chinese Medicine. At the Exhibition Booth, attendees explored an extended variety of herbs, learning to identify their unique characteristics. This foundational knowledge was tested in a fun and engaging way at the Game Booth, where challenges were centered around herbal properties and Chinese Medicine fundamental concepts.

The hands-on learning continued at the Wax Tablet Workshop, a new addition this year, where participants designed their own unique tablets using various Chinese Medicinal herbs. A specially designed Photo Booth, featuring the thematic “One Herb One Cure” frame and herbal props, provided a popular spot for attendees to capture memories, further reinforcing their connection to the theme in a personal and shareable way.

Experiencing "One Cure": The Harmony of Application
The “One Cure” aspect was demonstrated through booths that showcased the practical, combined application of TCM principles. The Tea Booth served perfectly balanced herbal infusions, illustrating how herbs harmonise in a formula. Similarly, the Food Booth offered delicacies prepared with therapeutic ingredients, demonstrating the concept of medicinal cuisine.
At the Incense Bag Workshop, participants get to craft aromatic sachets using specific herbal blends for stress relieving as well as bug repellent.
For a more direct therapeutic experience, the Tuina and Cupping Booth and the Ear Acupressure Booth provided treatments that integrate multiple healing techniques, while the Diagnosis Booth offered a holistic consultation, reflecting how a practitioner synthesises various information to form a comprehensive treatment plan.
The organising committee sincerely expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the leadership of IMU University, the Director of the School of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, the faculty of Department of Chinese Medicine, and all the student helpers whose dedication and support made this event possible.
We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all supporters, including our title sponsors Xi Group, Wang Shook Phing Medical Health Centre, Hai-O Enterprise, Hurix; major sponsors Choose One Herb, Eagle & Pagoda brand Teck Aun, Homwell Enterprise; and supporting sponsor Ming Dao TCM and Acupuncture Centre.
