Cultural Immersion in Malaysia

Beyond academics, the programme incorporated cultural immersion activities to provide a holistic experience of Malaysia, including

  • Exploring iconic landmarks,
  • Visiting local markets, and
  • Experiencing Malaysian traditions through local cuisine sessions and community engagement activities.

In addition, the delegates were introduced to pickleball, where many experienced the sport for the first time, fostering camaraderie and informal interaction between students and faculty.

Student Mobility Programme Outcomes

Wong Yi Kai, Senior Lecturer and IMU University Chiropractic Mobility Coordinator, shared,

“Programmes such as this reflect IMU University’s commitment to developing globally competent chiropractic practitioners. By combining academic integration, clinical exposure, and cultural immersion, students gain a broader perspective that extends beyond the classroom and prepares them for practice in an increasingly interconnected healthcare environment.”

Associate Professor Philip Dewhurst, International Partnerships and Developments Lead, added,

This is the first international visit of AECC students from Health Sciences University to an overseas partner and IMU was a natural choice given our long history of collaboration. AECC students have benefitted from a rich cultural and educational experience in Malaysia and learnt cultural skills which they can use throughout their professional careers. As AECC continues to develop these overseas experiences we hope to offer visits every year to provide our students a true global appreciation of the chiropractic profession.”

The programme concluded with a closing session featuring student reflections and certificate presentations, highlighting the impact of the experience on participants’ academic, clinical, and personal development.

Advancing Global Chiropractic Education
