Goals | IMU Chariofare 2023

Leading up to the Chariofare run and carnival, IMU Cares and IMU Chariofare 2023 Committee is organising several activities with the aim to raise awareness on three main causes champion by Chariofare this year. Events are open to the public. Everyone is welcome to participate.

August 2023: Mental Health Wellness

Mental health is a measure of an individual’s psychological wellbeing. It has been an increasingly relevant topic widely discussed in recent times and issues pertaining mental health have grown prevalent especially among younger generations. As such, we decided to campaign for mental health and reach out to a fitting beneficiary in aims of raising awareness and extending our help to those who are in need of support.

Through these events, we hope that we could educate and better equip individuals with the relevant skills and knowledge to take the appropriate steps in providing help to those who need it.

September 2023: Women of Domestic Abuse and Violence

Chariofare always strives towards raising awareness and reaching out to advocate on current social issues which primarily involve the discrimination of certain groups of people especially in Malaysia.

Advocating on women abuse is to help ensure that perpetrators are held accountable for their actions and that victims receive justice. Apart from that, women who experience abuse may struggle to maintain employment, resulting in financial insecurity. Advocating against women abuse can help ensure that women have the opportunity to achieve economic independence. Finally, Abused women are more prone to face physical and psychological problems like PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Therefore, promoting the domestic abuse of women can help fight against women’s violence in the long run.

October 2023: Children with Special Needs

Special needs children deserve our support and attention for many reasons. They are individuals who, just like any other child, have the right to live their lives to the fullest and reach their full potential. With the right support, resources, and education, these children can thrive and contribute to society in meaningful ways.

Additionally, supporting special needs children is not only a moral obligation, but it is also a societal one. Hence, Chariofare decided to reach out to organizations advocating for the rights of individuals with disabilities and promoting their inclusion in all aspects of society. We hope by supporting them, we can help break down these barriers and create a more inclusive and equitable society for all.
